img_2462Well, this is super exciting…it turns out I am relatively skilled at talking about others and the cool things they are doing…but for some reason talking about myself is a bit more of a daunting task. However, having said that, I also know that people like to know a little about the person behind the blog.

As I stated on the welcome page, my name is Cara. I live in San Antonio, Texas and I have lived in Texas my entire life. I am married and I have one child (who is currently 5 months old). I am also a proud fur baby mama to two Pugs. Along with the wifely and motherly things I do on a daily basis, I am also a Licensed Specialist in School Psychology (LSSP). Because that is a very lengthy title, and you may have not heard of that, in other parts of the US, LSSPs are known as School Psychologists. The purpose of this blog, however, is not to speak from a professional stand-point. Rather, I will be speaking from the perspective of a working mother and wife.

Prior to my graduate level degree, I received my Bachelor’s degree in Communication. During my undergraduate time, I had the opportunity to write some as a sports correspondent for a University newspaper and I also did some modeling. As far as the writing goes, I have always loved to write so I guess blogging was somewhat fated for me. With regard to modeling, it was a fun and cool experience whenever I was given a chance.

With all the technical information about me out there, let’s talk about why I am here. Simply put, I want to talk about all the things that I think are important and fun to discuss. Like I said on the welcome page (that is assuming you read it, which you may not have, and that is understandable because I have a tendency to be a bit wordy), I decided to start doing this as a creative outlet with the hopes that maybe the information would be interesting to a least a few others. As an LSSP, I am fortunate to have a relatively long summer break from work, so I thought it would be the perfect time to get started, when my little one decided a nap would be in his best interest. This point in my life definitely lends itself to a good starting point for blogging because I feel like I have learned so many things and I still have so many things to left learn.

Finally, what really pushed me forward in this blogging journey is some of the things that started to come up while I was pregnant. I have a tendency to research, research, and research some more. While pregnant, I definitely started by doing that, but quickly grew frustrated. You see, while the information was so incredibly informative, all the highly recommended books seemed to have a very strong underlying assumption that mothers stay home with the baby once a baby arrives. There was always that sentence or two that started with something like “if you are returning to work,” but I always felt like that information was very minimal. This is not to say that staying home one day if given the opportunity would not be a dream, because I love being a Mama to my little boy very much; but for some that just isn’t possible. So, this blog is coming from the perspective of a mother and wife who works full-time and is trying to figure out how to balance being successful in every part of my life.

Having said all that, what you will find on this blog is information about things I have learned or found out about motherhood (my adventures in it and probably a lot of “I wish I knew this befores..”), being a wife (mostly things I learn along the way because there is so much to learn when maintaining and developing relationships) , fashion/glammy things (because who doesn’t love those), food (“YUM’ is all that needs to be said here), health/well-being (from a very human perspective because I certainly would not consider myself a “know-it-all” in that department), and any other fun things I come across.

More than anything, I hope you enjoy this journey with me!

Remember to breathe and smile! -Cara
